Why Constituency226 exists

Project rationale

Access to accurate, reliable, and easy-to-understand civic information is essential for a healthy democracy. Yet many citizens in Zambia struggle to find clear information about their elected leaders, the roles of public officials, government processes, and the promises made during election campaigns. Information is often scattered across different sources, difficult to verify, or presented in ways that are not accessible to the general public.

This information gap contributes to low civic participation, the spread of misinformation, and limited public accountability. Young people, first-time voters, women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised communities are particularly affected, as they often have fewer opportunities to access quality civic education and trusted political information.

Constituency226 was created to address this challenge by providing a non-partisan, accessible platform that brings together verified civic and governance information in one place.

Clarity, from source to citizen.

Constituency226 turns scattered public records into a connected civic journey that is easier to find, understand, verify, and act on.
