Our name
Constituency226 is named after Zambia's 226 parliamentary constituencies, reflecting our commitment to making civic information accessible to every constituency and every citizen across the country.
Pronounced “two two six.” Explore all constituenciesConstituency226 is a non-partisan civic technology initiative designed to strengthen democratic participation, promote informed civic engagement, and enhance public accountability in Zambia. The project responds to the growing challenge of limited access to clear, verified, and accessible civic and political information by developing a centralised digital platform that provides structured, easy-to-understand information on political candidates, campaign commitments, governance processes, legislative activities, and the performance of elected leaders.
The platform is designed primarily for young people, first-time voters, and marginalised communities, who often face barriers in accessing reliable civic information. Through accessible digital tools, civic education, public engagement, and strategic outreach, Constituency226 seeks to empower citizens to make informed electoral decisions, counter misinformation, strengthen transparency, and promote meaningful citizen participation before, during, and after elections. Beyond the electoral period, the platform will serve as a long-term public accountability resource, enabling citizens to monitor whether elected leaders are delivering on their campaign commitments and actively participate in democratic governance throughout the electoral cycle.
